Up to £15,000 funding for businesses to install EV charge points

Businesses in West Suffolk are being helped to claim up to £15,000 to install Electric Vehicle charge points.

The EV charging team here at SaveMoneyCutCarbon is providing full support and guidance for businesses in the West Suffolk Council area to win grants for charge point installations.

Simon Blaaser, EV product specialist at SaveMoneyCutCarbon says that there has never been a better time for businesses to benefit from electric cars.

“EVs are already cheaper to own and run over a four-year period than petrol or diesel alternatives and the Government is fully behind the push to electric. EV charge points will help businesses gain the maximum benefits from zero-emissions transport – and help combat climate change.

“There is a range of funding available for EV charge points but it’s a complex process and that can put off many businesses. We make it easy for them.”

Tax changes that come into effect in 2020/2021 will reduce company car tax bills. Under the plans, zero-emission 100% electric cars will pay no company car tax in 2020/21, 1% in 2021/22 and 2% in 2022/23.

Businesses can also claim capital allowance on vehicles depending on the CO2 emissions. For cars purchased after April 2018 the emissions level to qualify for a full deduction is 50g/km.

Company car drivers who go electric will pay zero Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax from next April 2020. BIK rates will increase to 1% from April 2021 and 2% from April 2022.

SaveMoneyCutCarbon are experts in helping businesses cut energy and water costs, and Simon Blaaser hopes that companies don’t miss the EV opportunity.

He added:

“With the levels of funding available, it makes great business sense to install EV charge points now.”
