Get to know Marley’s Monsters reusable eco kitchen products

Spring cleaning may be complete for another year but that doesn’t mean we’ve hung up our mops and dusters.

Regular household cleaning products like dusters and paper towels, although convenient, have a significant impact on the environment due to their single-use nature. You know the drill – when these products are disposed of, they often end up in landfills, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation.

But it’s not all doom and gloom! Marley’s Monsters have the answer with their reusable range. By opting for reusable alternatives, you can significantly reduce your waste. Designed to be durable and long-lasting, this means they can be used repeatedly before needing replacement.

Who are Marley’s Monsters?

Marley’s Monsters are a new addition to our SaveMoneyCutCarbon family so we wanted to introduce you to these wonderful sustainable cleaning products. They believe in making simple changes to your routine (like us!) and they want to make a reusable lifestyle as easy and fun as possible. Their product portfolio is designed to reduce waste, cut costs, replace single-use disposables and make a positive impact on the environment.

And that doesn’t mean completely changing how you do things. It just means adapting and choosing sustainable alternatives of the same thing.

The journey began with Sarah Dooley, Marley’s Monsters founder and President collecting fabric scraps and creating her very first reusable duster. Starting as one, in less than 10 years it’s become a fully-fledged award-winning business.

Let’s get into the savings of the Marley’s Monsters Unpaper Towels!

  • Marley’s Monsters have saved 15,000,000 gallons of water a year, enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 250 times over.
  • Marley’s Monsters have saved 132,796 from being harvested for paper production.
  • Marley’s Monsters help customers save $800 over five years using just one 24-count roll.

Marley’s Monsters Unpaper Towels

Single-use paper towels are used once before being discarded. But the production of paper towels is pretty resource intensive – involving deforestation, water consumption and energy-intensive manufacturing processes. And like many traditional cleaning products, they tend to come packaged in plastic.

Marley’s Monsters Unpaper towels are endlessly reusable and 100% plastic free! They’re brilliant for wiping your hands, cleaning up spills, using as napkins at mealtimes or wiping the surfaces with – or anything really. The little squares of reusable magic are super absorbent, machine washable and handmade from 100% cotton flannel in Eugene, Oregon.

Each towel has sewn edges to prevent fraying and maintain durability, which is super important in reusable products as we want them to last for as long as possible. The towels absorb more water after the first few washes and it’s totally natural for them to cling together as this makes them easier to roll together once washed.

And it’s not just the paper that’s sustainable, they’re rolled around study reusable Kraft paper tube which is naturally biodegradable. After you’ve washed them, simply stack them up and re-roll them around the tube one at a time.

They add a bit of fun to your kitchen too! Unlike boring kitchen roll, Marley’s Monsters Unpaper towels come in a range of quirky prints – adding vibrant colour to your cleaning routine.

Marley’s Monsters Washable Duster

Disposable dusters and wipes are typically made from materials like plastic and synthetic fibres which can take hundreds of years to decompose. Plus, manufacturing these products requires a lot of water, energy and raw materials. By using a washable duster like the Marley’s Monsters Washable Duster, you can significantly reduce your contribution to landfill waste and reduce the strain on resources.

The duster head is made from multiple layers of flannel and fleece strips and the handle is made with natural wood and natural tung oil finish – all of which are handmade by Marley’s Monsters. This means they have been crafted with attention to detail and quality materials. Using flannel means it will fray after washing so it will collect maximum dust!

Using these natural materials may also improve health as some disposal dusters and wipes contain chemicals that could be harmful. Marley’s Monsters eliminate any risk and ensures your home is safe for your family, pets and environment.

To wash, all you have to do is remove the duster from the wooden handle and pop it in the washing machine at a warm temperature with the rest of your wash. We like to air dry it as it protects the material and it reduces energy consumption.

Washable dusters are versatile and can be used for many cleaning tasks like dusting surfaces, objects and even delicate objects. It works exactly the same as a disposable one. The only difference is that you can reuse it multiple times before washing it.

And by now you may be thinking, what’s the catch? Is it the price? Nope! While disposable dusters may seem initially inexpensive, the cost can add up over time, especially if you frequently use them. By investing in a washable duster, you can save money in the long run since you won’t need to keep buying replacements. As Marley’s Monsters are carefully crafted and designed to be durable, the longer lifespan will save you even more.

But the very best part is that the washable duster comes in a randomly selected surprise print flannel with your choice of coordinating fleece colour – to add a bit of fun to your delivery.
