Menorah High School for Girls

The Client

Menorah High School for Girls is a very successful independent secondary in north London catering for 335 students between age range 11-18, with teaching rated as “outstanding” by Ofsted.

The Brief

The school wanted to find ways to achieve energy efficiencies while at the same time reducing its impact on the environment by cutting carbon emissions and demonstrating its climate-protection commitment to students and staff.

Menorah High School engaged SaveMoneyCutCarbon because of its extensive knowledge and experience in the education sector in delivering energy-saving projects.

A full survey was carried out, which identified that a full LED lighting upgrade would provide excellent energy and carbon savings with the capital cost of the project covered by lower energy bills.

The school was given investment-ready proposals, with all the essential carbon and payback ROI calculations driven from the detailed surveys and in-depth product knowledge.

The survey and specification team proposed that 761 quality LED panels and lights be retrofitted because this type of lighting uses an exceptionally low amount of energy and well as being highly reliable and having a long working life of around 50,000 hours.

The SaveMoneyCutCarbon team also installed an array of solar PV panels on the school’s rooftop, following a comprehensive survey. The solar PV provides 25kw of power, helping the school generate renewable off-grid energy and reduce costs from rapidly rising energy prices. The solar PV is a perfect fit for the school’s decarbonisation strategy.

Further savings were achieved with the installation of 11 energy-saving hand dryers.

The installation team – all fully DBS checked – worked closely with the school to minimise disruption.
