The Varilight JQP401W V-Pro Rotary Dimmer is an LED-ready replacement for traditional household mains dimmer switches.

Please note: We recommend that the maximum wattage of LEDs used on this dimmer does not exceed 40W. 400W is the maximum wattage for old incandescent lights.

Why buy this product?
This Varilight dimmer is specially designed for LED in two ways. First it incorporates a neutral wire so that the dimmer can draw the power it needs however low the LED is dimmed to. This has the benefit of allowing LEDs to be dimmed to the lowest level the lamp is capable of. Older rotary dimmers would fail at low power with LEDs.

Second, the JQP401W comes with the option or leading or trailing-edge dimming. Traditional dimmers are leading-edge but this technology can cause buzzing and LEDs are particularly susceptible to this problem. Trailing-edge is normally a good alternative as it minimises buzzing. The great feature of this product is that both alternatives are available. Simply programme the dimmer on installation to select leading or trailing-edge according to the specification of the light source.

Rotary dimmers are excellent options for homes, as they are extremely simple to control and fit in the place of traditional household switches.
