We’ll be on the Carbon Trust stand (Hall 11, Stand N1551) at London ExCel centre so if you are going to the event, drop by and we’d be happy to discuss cost-effective ways to create a cleaner, greener, efficient and more sustainable buildings.

Ecobuild is the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment and the UK’s largest construction event of any kind.

With Climate Change Week in full swing and hosting a launch event at Ecobuild, there is a clear and welcome focus on sustainable, energy-efficient buildings.

Retrofit risks & rewards

Katharine Deas, Director Carbon Trust Low Carbon Workplace, will be delivering a seminar, this morning (March 4th) from 10:45 – 12:15 on the “Imperatives of retrofit”, which should be a stimulating discussion on risks and rewards associated with retrofitting existing buildings.

And tomorrow (16:00-16:45), a highlight promises to be the participation of Ed Davey, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change speaking about “Energy efficiency: Delivering for consumers, for growth and for climate change”.

Mr. Davey will be discussing how energy efficiency can benefit consumers, promote economic growth and help reduce carbon emissions. You can put your questions to the Secretary of State in a 25 minute Q&A session following his speech.

National action needed

The team here at SaveMoneyCutCarbon wonders whether Mr. Davey will indicate how the Government plans to rescue its imploded energy strategy and whether, finally, it will develop, promote and support an effective national campaign to cut energy and water consumption, cut bills and cut carbon.

Mr. Davey will be sharing the limelight with journalist and broadcaster Janet Street-Porter. She is joining more than 100 experts, ministers and VIPs and will speak at the Ecobuild 10th Anniversary Talks – “perspectives on the sustainability journey”.

The session will share a range of personal perspectives with speakers giving their thoughts on how far the sustainability agenda has developed and offer predictions on the next few years.
