Comprehensive service helps companies avoid big Government fines and add value through energy & water efficiencies

Energy and water saving specialists SaveMoneyCutCarbon announce the launch of ESOS Plus to guide companies through the maze of the Government’s updated Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme – and avoid big fines.

The company, based in Bury St Edmunds, moves businesses beyond basic ESOS compliance to achieve real savings through its unique approach that adds commercial value.

The second phase of ESOS is now underway with the threat of £50,000 fines for non-compliance. It requires all large businesses to produce reports on energy usage and efficiency every four years.

ESOS is a mandatory government scheme affecting up to 10,000 United Kingdom organisations. The scheme has been designed to increase awareness of energy consumption to make it easier for businesses to act, to lower their energy bills and lower the rate of carbon emissions across the UK.

ESOS applies to organisations for which one or more of the following criteria apply:

  • Employs 250 or more people
  • Has an annual turnover in excess of €50M (£38,937,777) and a balance sheet total in excess of €43M (£33,486,489)
  • It is part of a group of UK organisations that includes at least one eligible organisation.

Organisations must carry out ESOS assessments every four years – audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport – to identify cost-effective energy saving measures.

Mark Sait, CEO of SaveMoneyCutCarbon says: “We believe the government’s ESOS initiative is a good thing for businesses and the planet. Unfortunately, too many consultants have rushed in to provide compliance certificates, making money from this, but offering their clients little more than the minimum requirement.

“Our ESOS Plus approach is different. For the same cost as a typical standalone ESOS audit, we have combined the requirement for an ESOS audit and compliance with our unique Savings Opportunity Report Tool (SORT) and ability to fund and deliver installation projects. The SORT tool is being used by many of our blue-chip clients as their evidence for ESOS.”

The unique, web-based SORT tool helps companies to pinpoint energy and water savings opportunities. Most use it as the road map to make a real difference in reducing energy consumption, cutting bills and improving the bottom line.

It is also a long-term planning tool and highly effective when applying for sustainability and CSR budgets or reporting on future ESOS stages.

The SORT reports show best order of payback by project, detail on required investment and savings with associated documents for each project.

SaveMoneyCutCarbon’s in-house team handles all aspects of the ESOS process, including a lead assessor, and energy and water consumption audits with full asset list to ensure that areas of significant energy consumption are covered by a route to compliance, together with online notification.

The team guides companies through the ESOS maze and beyond to take action and achieve substantial savings, while adhering to brand standards.

Mark Sait explains: “There are no hidden costs often created through using multiple vendors. Peace of mind comes from the fact that the same company that completed your survey are delivering your projects through our experienced and trusted UK-wide field service team. We can even fund your projects if capital is not available. ESOS Plus helps you reduce bills, providing more profit for your organisation whilst helping the planet.”
